i dont post often but i do read the students' post once in a while ya? :)
i dont post often but when i do, its a 'rare gem' entry :)
here's the treasure. (reminded by Jinfeng long long ago, when we had class outing, the 1 where we celebrated yuantying's bday, yup. sorry for the delay, difficult to find lah, but while moving all the crap from my old house to my new house, i came across this!!!)
theory of TamBB
Tam's manual, aka memories of Tam
1) "is/be [will] always be"
2) words ending with "t" will have an "s" added before the "t" when she pronounces it
3) "differentiation" pronounced without the "r" sound, i.e. "differnsation"
4) "parallel" change "r" for "l", i.e. "palallel"
5) she constantly raises her eyebrows
6) "isnt it" (normal) => "various intermediate forms" => "ee-ngyet" (ultimate version); she says it all!
7) she says "ah mean" when she's excited
8) clause of assertion: very to the power "n"; "n times"
9) clause to indicate "almost entirely": 99.999...%
10)"be" is missing in her sentence at times (unpredictable)
11) "is" "must" "be" entanglement (always comes as a package)
12) "substitution" pronounced as "subsitution" (missing "t" sound)
13) exclaimations (when she realised she made an error):
a) "oh... oh.... oh..."
b) ""Oh i am wrong... (draggy)" (self correction)
14) when she erases whiteboard (with 2 hands); the motion of one arm mirrors the other
15) when she gets excited, her pitch goes up => tries to get attention
16) rhetoric speech: "is it that ..." (said very quickly, as always)
17) strange and irregular omission and insertion of conjunctions, prepositions and
articles
a)"i want to test on you" (unnecessary preposition "on")
b) "it is very fun enjoy your CCA" (missing "to")
c) inappropriate articles in her sentences: "in the december..." ("the"???)
18) slow and draggy sentences when she talks and thinks simultaneously
19) supreme memory of:
a) dates for several statisics qns
b) % of marks for various types of qns
although sometimes its screwed up but nvm... gd effort! :)
even quotes the year qns appeared in papers up to 30 yrs ago
20) walks very slow... no... overall movement just slow (i dont mean old kind of slow, but 0 urgency kind of slow)
21) when she does work, shes overly engrosses (once i managed to WALK to the bin and throw stuff and got back to my seat before she spotted me... :P)
22) "identify" pronounced as "adentify"
23) emphasis: "very serious mistake..."
24) "now, is not the problem" (huh???)
25) she pronounces the plural when she refers to the singular, especially for the word vector. "this vectors is palellel..."
26) "line of symmetric" (line of symmetry)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
wow a long list for Tam :) (her character is well documented :))
now for Yang!
Yang's Flaws
1) Hb (haemoglobin) and RBC is the same thing => "sickle-shaped Hb"
2) remember the practical (1 of the first few pracs with her) when we were doing some expt regarding rate of enzyme reaction with concentration (i cant remb conc of enz or substr or sth else)? well she said something like "volume and concentration is the same wad" and we went on arguing tt its not :) hahahahahah... oops (this was in the clean and white lab, the new new 1)
3) more electrons are absorbed into sample of TEM for denser parts (hmm now didnt the notes say more electrons are DEFLECTED from the sample for denser parts???) (contributed by Josh, tt was like his 1 mark or .5 mark in his blk test or prelims)
4) the topic of evolution (during revision in J2 i think, she was going thru some answers): natural selection applies to the world, but she exerted something like "natural selection applies to the particular ecosystem/habitat", and she added sth like "gene flow is a cause of natural selection in the particular habitat"; i know it sounds abit confusing (cause shes quite confused herself then) and we were sorta arguing (some of you who can remb more details do enlighten us!)
5) she just loves to throw back qns to us for us to solve dont she? :P (what we call "arrow" in army); sometimes if u suay and u say the last qn for the period she will say, "y dont you find out (the previous qn) as well" (i think kelvin li kana this before); sometimes she just solves our questions along the way, somehow either she recalls or she deduces from her knowledge (though i think its the latter!)
6) her most ultimate stun: "you must open-minded a bit, then you can understand what i am saying" LOL!!! (this was during 1 of the J2 pracs
